Back in April I was sent to Fort Indian Town Gap, PA for training. While attending the course we would get dismissed for the day in the late afternoon, and be free on the weekends. It was those times that the opportunity presented itself to go and explore.

Admittedly I am horrible at geography, and it has been years since I had been quizzed on states and their capitals, so it was to no surprise that I happened upon Harrisburg without even realizing that it was the capital of Pennsylvania. I had thought that it was Philadelphia. Anyways, with COVID restrictions still mostly in place there wasn’t much open. None of the museums, no tours available and the capital building itself was closed. But despite all that I soaked in the sites and the overall vibe of the city.

Walking around with my camera, in a new place, all on my own was pretty intimidating but it was excitement I didn’t realize that I craved. The thing that really popped out to me on this particular photo walk was color.

Street art was every where, and seemed like it was incorporated in everything. Every step there was a mural, or a bright orange newstand, or even some of the buildings seemed to just pop right out at you. Things that would be typically overlooked or so ordinary to some, it was intriguing to me.

Although I didn’t learn to much of the history Harrisburg got to offer it was definitely worth the drive to explore.
